Open Seas Collection
Open Seas Collection
Have you ever seen the 1998 movie, The Prince of Egypt?
There's a scene after Moses parts the Red Sea that is etched in my mind.
As the Hebrews shuttle across the ocean floor, dragging what little material possessions they owned, lightning suddenly illuminates the massive columns of water around them, and a gigantic whale can be seen gliding by, towering over with grandiose might and solemnity, swimming oblivious to the thousands of small lives crawling below.
This image - the composition of this almost mythical creature eclipsing these tiny lives in scale - still resonates with me.
Both are such powerful visual symbols of extraordinary strength: the Hebrews' historical and defiant escape from Egypt and the larger-than-life existence of the great whale swimming indifferently above.
Deciding to upend all that you've ever known in pursuit of true freedom will always be a monumental task.
It can feel that way the first time leaving home.
It can feel that way to leave a bad relationship.
It can feel that way to pursue a new career path.
It will feel that way when you finally decide to do something different for your life.
To honor that courage and strength, I created The Open Seas Collection.
I chose five sea creatures that I believe live unapologetically defiant to a hostile world, survive with majesty and grandeur, and personify the ocean's pride and wrath.
I deeply love this series and I hope you'll get to enjoy it too.
